Why sensitive skin suffers
In atopic and eczema-prone skin, the protective barrier is compromised. Water escapes from the skin, irritants get in, and a vicious circle of dryness, itching and irritation begins. Yet your skin has its own endocannabinoid system, which helps maintain its balance and its barrier. And that is exactly what the compounds in hemp work with.
What clinical studies have shown
- CBD ointment (Italy, 2019): patients with atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and scars applied it for 3 months. Their skin was more hydrated and more elastic, and their symptoms eased markedly.
- Cannabinoid gel (USA, 2020): people with eczema used it for just two weeks. Their symptom score dropped to roughly half.
- CBD and CBG ointment (Poland, 2025): after 8 weeks, the skin was more hydrated, lost less water, was less red and less itchy.
- Hemp oil (Finland, 2005): participants took it orally for 8 weeks. They experienced less dryness and itching and needed fewer skin products. This did not happen with olive oil.
What hemp does in cosmetics
CBD (cannabidiol) soothes irritated skin and helps ease the sensation of itching and redness.
Hemp oil is naturally rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, including the rare GLA. It replenishes the lipids that a weakened barrier lacks.
Hemp stem cells are a plant extract packed with antioxidants that helps protect the skin from environmental stress.

Hemp care the O’LILA way
Hemp is the heart of our cosmetics. When developing our formulations, we rely primarily on hemp-based ingredients – a growing number of scientific studies support their benefits for the skin, and after years of work in our labs, they are the ingredients we have had the best experience with. That is exactly why the CANNA line was our very first product line. Its name is no coincidence: the products in this line contain a higher proportion of hemp ingredients than the rest of our cosmetics. All of them are made in Slovakia and dermatologically tested.
